DESIRE Kick-off Meeting

Project kick -off Meeting “ DESIRE “-Development of higher Education teaching modules on the Socio-economic Impacts of the Renewable Energy implementation- was formally held at GJU on Tuesday, 5thof January 2016 .

The meeting gathered all project partners universities ; German Jordanian University , the University of Jordan , University of Cyprus , Cairo University , Aswan University , Sapienza University of Rome , Wuppertal Institution for Climate, Environment and Energy , Technical University of Dresden , Damascus University and Tishreen University.

The main objective of the project is to provide a high quality education for MENA students in the key aspects of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REEE) technology with the emphasis on the socio-economic aspects of these technologies, therefore enabling them to take responsible, creative, challenging and stimulating posts in policymaking, industry or research in this targeted field.

GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu. Obeid, warmly welcomed the project participants who came from different countries, pointing out to the importance of this project that could add a value and benefit for GJU and all participated universities.

For his part, Dr. Louy Qoaider, the Project Coordinator, gave a presentation about the project, briefing about its purposes, expected results and impacts in addition to the budget.
